Founded in 1957, the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) is the global trade association of the shopping center industry. Its 75,000 members in the U.S., Canada and more than 80 other countries include shopping center owners, developers, managers, marketing specialists, investors, lenders, retailers and other professionals as well as academics and public officials. As the global industry trade association, ICSC links with more than 25 national and regional shopping center councils throughout the world.

The Minnesota Shopping Center Association (MSCA) is a nonprofit trade association that was initiated in 1988. MSCA is the largest statewide organization devoted solely to the retail real estate industry. With over 320 companies and 780 members, the association represents developers, shopping center owners, brokers, property managers, retailers, attorneys, architects, appraisers, contractors and all professionals serving the Minnesota real estate industry.

A Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) is a recognized expert in the disciplines of commercial and investment real estate. Nearly 10,000 additional professionals are pursuing the CCIM designation.

The National Association of REALTORS® was founded as the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges on May 12, 1908 at the YMCA Auditorium in Chicago, IL. With 120 founding members, 19 Boards, and one State Association, the National Association of Real Estate Exchanges' objective was "to unite the real estate men of America for the purpose of effectively exerting a combined influence upon matters affecting real estate interests." The Association became the largest trade association in the United States in the early 1970s, with over 400,000 members. Today, NAR has over 1.2 million members, 54 State Associations (including Guam, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands) and more than 1,400 local Associations.

The Minnesota Restaurant Association, Minnesota Lodging Association and Minnesota Resort and Campground Association operate collaboratively through a management entity known as Hospitality Minnesota.
Housed in St. Paul, the three Associations are managed by Hospitality Minnesota and provide legislative and regulatory advocacy, marketing, education and information and money-saving programs to members. In addition, Hospitality Minnesota operates a non-profit education foundation, the Hospitality Minnesota Education Foundation, which provides a high school curriculum in foodservice and lodging management and provides scholarships to students pursuging higher education in the hospitality field.

For more than seven decades, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) has been the source for education, resources, information and membership for real estate management professionals. An affiliate of the National Association of Realtors, IREM is the only professional real estate management association serving both the multi-family and commercial real estate sectors. With 80 U.S. chapters, eight international chapters and several other partnerships around the globe, IREM is an international organization that also serves as an advocate on issues affecting the real estate management industry.
